Montreal Business Book Review – Where Art Thou?

Posted by

There has been plenty of silence surrounding the Montreal Business Book Review. What was supposed to be one book and one discussion per month has come to a grinding halt, and it’s my entire fault.
First, allow me to apologize. It was never my intent to stop it completely. In fact, quite the opposite. Two things happened: First, I had to postpone the last discussion of the Montreal Business Book Review which was supposed to take place in late January featuring Convergence Culture: Where Old and New Media Collide by Henry Jenkins due to last-minute business travel. Secondly, I was asked by HarperCollins Canada to produce a new business and motivational book Podcast called, Foreword Thinking, which (for a time) I thought might be able to replace the Montreal Business Book Review and extend the conversation on business and motivational books to a global platform.
So, where does that leave the Montreal Business Book Review? The Foreword Thinking Podcast will be launched (if all goes well) by the end of March and I am looking for one or two local Montreal business professionals who are interested in helping me with the Montreal Business Book Review.
What does “help” mean? Not much. It means a place to host the discussion (there are usually anywhere from five to fifteen people who attend the session depending on the book selection) and someone who is comfortable moderating the discussions. There may be months where I simply can’t attend, and I do not want the Montreal Business Book Review to fall by the wayside because I can’t be there either moderating or hosting.
If you’re interested, please let me know and let’s try and get the Montreal Business Book Review back on track. There are so many new books that I am devouring which are worthy of discussion including: Citizen Marketers by Jackie Huba and Ben McConnell, Made To Stick by Chip Heath and Dan Heath, The Generous Man by Tor Nørretranders, Wikinomics by Don Tapscott and Anthony D. Williams, Pop!: Stand Out in Any Crowd by Sam Horn, Zag: The Number One Strategy of High-Performance Brands by Marty Neumeier and many more.
There were also many people who wanted to reschedule the discussion on Convergence Culture (which I think is an awesome idea).
If you are interested in making sure that the Montreal Business Book Review continues, please let me know. Otherwise, the discussions will be held when my schedule permits. Also, please watch this space for the launch of our new Podcast on the business and motivational book space called, Foreword Thinking.
