Welcome to episode #210 of Six Pixels Of Separation – The Twist Image Podcast. Avinash Kaushik (Analytics Evangelist at Google and the author of the best-selling business books, Web Analytics – An Hour A Day and Web Analytics 2.0) reached out to me about an idea for an episode of the Six Pixels of Separation podcast. Kaushik wanted to have a candid conversation not about what we’ve done right in business and in Social Media, but what we got wrong and what we learned from it. It’s powerful to reflect on your mistakes and the outcomes, and it was also a fascinating conversation about Marketing, leadership, management, maturity, Social Media and every other nook and cranny we’ve both played in (and got ours knees scraped along the way). Feel free to add your mistakes below. Enjoy the conversation…

It’s the first time I heard your podcast and I just want to say that I enjoyed listening to it.
Looking forward to more.
🙂
Hi Mitch,
Do you have a transcript anywhere? I am hearing impaired and it would be easier for me.
Best,
Jey
Hey Jey,
Unfortunately, I do not have transcription services on the Podcast just yet. I’ll post when that option does become available.
Hi Mitch,
This is the first of the twist image podcasts I have listened to, and what a great insight it has been. Thanks to you and Avinash for opening up about the mistakes you have made in the past. I have just finished going through your audiobook six pixels of separation. This is great book that has inspired me to take my work more seriously with passion, not to expect quick results, and provide something of great value without the motive of cashing in.
I am a fan Mitch, keep up the good work.
Regards,
Peter
Mitch,
Awesome podcast. Big thanks to you and Avinash for being so open and honest.
I think it’s huge for your audience that you can share this kind of knowledge and experience. Sharing mistakes is just as actionable/thought provoking as your standard material. I think it also makes people reflect more on their own approach/ideas. Something, I would suggest is hugely valuable.
Nice job. Looking forward to more. Huge fan of any 6 pixel podcast with Avinash.
Cheers, Ben
I really appreciate the kind words. Thank you, Peter.
It was all Avinash’s idea. He’s welcome on the show whenever he wants. He has a standing open invitation.
I am finally digging my way through the backlog of podcasts I has saved and I need to say that I can relate to both Avinash and Mitch’s people ways. Being very much a task focused person I do feel I don’t show my fuzzy side and thank everyone for everything. I believe the thank you is implied and it’s a waste unless something is truly remarkable. My much more centered wife who is my sounding board, compass and coach continues to help with my growth.
Thank you for the very open dialogue.
Oh, how I grapple with that one too… still.
