For Immediate Release – The Hobson & Holtz Report is one of the most popular business Podcasts. The co-hosts, Shel Holtz and Neville Hobson, produce a bi-weekly Podcast on the world of communications, social media and how this all comes together. For Immediate Release is, without doubt, one of the inspirations behind my own Podcast, Six Pixels Of Separation.
This week, I had the distinct honor of co-hosting For Immediate #161: August 7, 2006 with Shel (Neville had a travel day and could not make the recording).
I then found out that Shel will be speaking in Toronto for AIMS Canada – Association of Internet Marketing & Sales – on Wednesday, September 20th, 2006, 3:00 pm (location TBD). Shel’s topic is: “How Social Media Is Changing Everything You Know……And What You Should Be Doing About It.”
Here’s a partial description of Shel’s presentation taken from the AIMS website:
“Business is changing. Technology has provided the means for people and communities to assume control of messages. For organizations to succeed in this new era, they need to cede control of the message and learn how to participate in the conversation. It’s no small challenge.
At this event, Shel Holtz, a leading online communications authority, will explore the advance of social media, the implication for existing media, and the role of the marketer in implementing ‘the new marketing’ as a business strategy. Blogs, podcasts, and wikis are at the vanguard of this change.”
The Client Side‘s Michael Seaton and AIMS General Manager, Kathryn Lagden, have both informed me that there may well be a Geek Dinner with Shel on September 19th. Luckily, that day I am speaking at The Power Within in London, Ontario, so I am going to do my best to get back to Toronto in time for this.
If you’re interested in attending Shel’s presentation, please check this out: AIMS Canada Presents: Shel Holtz – How Social Media Is Changing Everything You Know……And What You Should Be Doing About It.
If there is a Geek Dinner, make sure to come over and say “hi.” I will be recording that night for future Podcast publishing.
