Here’s what Howard says:
“This is your chance to step up to the plate and make your voice heard. We’d like to hear from people who would make excellent Board Members. They must be active paid members of the WAA (you all should be) with at least four years experience. They must be leaders and evangelists for the web analytics community – both behavioral and attitudinal – and be able to commit fifteen to twenty hours per month on Board related activities.”
The actual call for nominees and the entire nomination process will be announced in a few weeks with more information available on the WAA website. What you can do right now is send Howard Firestone your name or the names of people you would like to see nominated as WAA Board Members.
Why am I posting this? One of the key ways to grow your business is to think of your community first. Getting involved in your industry’s many associations not only adds value to your business, but it will also help your industry grow – which builds your personal brand as you build the industry.
Many people in the interactive space spend their days making cold calls and explaining to potential clients what they do, why they do it and, even more importantly, what that means to the person on the other end of the phone – a lot of us call this the “missionary work.” We still have to do a lot of missionary work in our industry, so taking the lead in one of the many associations is also a great way to not only get the missionary work done, but to spread it through to more people.
