One of the best (and easiest) ways to avoid bad television, is to watch good television online.
Yes, there is plenty of good television. And – just like the Internet – you have dig around and scratch beneath the surface to find the real gems. One of the best (in terms of learning about business, community and how it all connects) is Charlie Rose. Without question, Rose not only has some of the best guests out there, but he’s also one of the most amazing conversationalists in the world.
It used to be shareable, but it’s not anymore.
I’m not sure who took this decision over at Bloomberg (the owners of The Charlie Rose Show), but all of his interviews used to available via Google Video – making them easy to share, embed, link to, etc…, but as of recently, it’s all stuck on his website (which sucks if you don’t have a PVR/DVR/Tivo) with no direct links to specific shows/interviews and no ability to embed the video over on this Blog (sorry).
It’s a little bit more work, but it’s worth it.
Just this week, Rose had some fascinating conversations with the like of Warren Buffet, Freakonomics and Superfreakonomics authors Stephen Dubner and Steven Levitt and – my personal fave – Malcolm Gladwell who discusses his latest book (a collection of his essays for The New Yorker), What The Dog Saw.
