It has been far too long since I’ve held one of my Flash Cow events. I call them Flash Cows because they are a mash-up between a Flash Mob and Purple Cow (sort of).
Your ability to influence, that is to create and sustain positive change in others, is directly related to your ability to sell your products and services, pitch ideas, lead teams, manage projects, negotiate agreements, coach employees, collaborate with co-workers, and even fundraise. Often, we do all of this with people over whom we have no formal authority.
Instead of a book selection for the June session of The Montreal Business Book Club, I have invited Heath Slawner, the only professional certified in Canada to deliver the Principles of Persuasion Workshop – an interactive keynote presentation on the science that underlies the influence process.
The content is based on the lifelong work of Dr. Cialdini, internationally recognized expert in the fields of persuasion, compliance, and negotiation. To date, Dr. Cialdini is the most cited living social psychologist in the world and the author of Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion.
The event is titled, The Weapons Of Influence: Hard Science For The Soft Skills, and is being held on Tuesday, June 13th, 2006 – 6:00 pm at the McGill Executive Institute (1001 Sherbrooke Street West, 6th Floor).
Here’s how it works: The cost for this event is $20. It is cash only (there will be no receipts) and please bring exact change. All money is donated to a handful of personal charities that I am involved with (the cost of the event is underwritten by Twist Image and any other sponsors who generously come forward). If you RSVP, I consider it a final confirmation and you owe the $20 regardless of whether you attend or not. I do this because I am not an event planner, nor do I wish to spend time figuring out admin stuff for something that’s supposed to be fun. In the past, all of the Flash Cow events have sold-out (with a waiting list).
Space is very limited, so please RSVP to me to secure your spot.
