This press release just came in through a Google News Alert for the term “social media”:
Market Wire Introduces Social Media Distribution For Customer News Releases.
Take a read and please let me know if you understand what your fifty bucks gets you. I don’t.
If this is what I think it is, I’m more than a little skeptical. Does Market Wire think that submitting a standard press release to Digg will actually do anything? Do they also think that tagging the press release so that it is Del.icio.us friendly will help the credibility of the press release?
Here’s a quote from the press release:
“People are increasingly turning beyond print publications and online news aggregators to user powered Web sites and other forms of social media to get their news,” said Paolina Milana, vice president of Marketing & Media Relations, Market Wire. “Social Media distribution brings an added dimension to our news delivery, allowing our customers to quickly reach a broader audience with information specifically tailored to the audiences they care about most.”
