MediaPost – Search Insider Article, What If Everyone Was A Blogger?

MediaPost has a weekly e-zine, Search Insider, which covers the search engine space. This week, it contained a great article entitled, What If Everyone Was A Blogger? written by Max Kalehoff.
Kalehoff sites the recent Technorati report and points to a New York Times editorial, State Of The Blogosphere, which talks about the 14.2 million Blogs already out there and how 80,000 new Blogs are created daily.
What overwhelmed me the most was this quote from the New York Times:
“If the blogosphere continues to expand at this rate, every person who has Internet access will be a blogger before long, if not an actual reader of blogs… It’s natural enough to think of the growth of the blogosphere as a merely technical phenomenon. But it’s also a profoundly human phenomenon, a way of expanding, and in some sense, reifying the ephemeral daily conversation that humans engage in. Every day the blogosphere captures a little more of the strange immediacy of the life that is passing before us. Think of it as the global thought bubble of a single voluble species.”
This furthers the notion that the Internet is allowing many people (in fact, all of us) to become Instant Personal Publishers. The blurring lines of PR, communications, marketing and advertising have yet to even feel the tip of this iceberg.
