Recent reports say that an icon within Microsoft‘s upcoming OS, Longhorn, will make adding RSS feeds as simple as adding a bookmark – unlike now where it is sometimes required to copy and paste the XML code into your reader/feeder.
It has also been suggested that beyond using RSS for news and Blog feeds it will soon be commonplace for online publishers to include photo albums, playlists and other content that is frequently updated.
For marketers, we have already seen certain advertisers experiment with RSS advertising and Google recently allowed AdSense publishers to include text listings in feeds. Other second and third-tier pay-per-click companies (like Kanoodle) also offer this type of RSS advertising.
Maybe Blogs are simply “the things to do” now but RSS feeds are clearly an integral part of publishing now and moving forward.
