- An open letter to @Facebook, @Twitter, @Instagram and @Experian regarding algorithms and my son’s birth – Gillian Brockell – Twitter. “In an update on Twitter, Washington Post reporter Gillian Brockell wrote about the harrowing experience of target marketing, the loss of a child, and the digital era. Then she tried to get Experian to remove the information from her personal records. If you want a case study of just how impossibly difficult it is to control your online dopelganger, look no further than this thread.” (Alistair for Hugh).

- The Drummer Hal Blaine Provided The Beat For American Music – The New Yorker. “Sure, my true passion is bass players (and how ignored their stories are in the history of music). Drummers don’t catch much of a break, either. Every drummer joke is about how dumb they are. Other musicians often frown on those who drum simply keep time by banging skins, but there is so much more there to admire. If you’re looking for names, there are plenty. Hal Blaine was one of them (to those who love the drums, but not to the mainstream). He just passed (90 years old!). Read this article. Imagine that. One drummer playing for all of those bands on all of those songs that we all love. What a life well lived… and well played. RIP Hal!” (Mitch for Hugh).
