I understand the perceived and real barriers to the federal government joining the conversation but what I don’t get are the barriers it has to monitoring it. Departments now pay companies from 12K to 25k to monitor traditional media but I don’t know one that uses a social media monitoring service like Radian6 that costs half that. Any insights Mike Kujawski?
I agree 100% Robin. There are no barriers to monitoring. And if a department is hesitant to spend any money whatsoever, they can still monitor the social web using free tools (e.g. iGoogle dashboard with customized feeds). My advice: show them how easy this stuff is to do and they will want it.
